Like Clockwork

I still check on my kids in the middle of the night. Every night around 2 a.m. I wake up and tip toe to the kids' room to fix their blankets and kiss them on their foreheads while they lay dreaming in their beds (and subconsciously I find myself checking to see if they're still breathing- disturbing, right?). I wondered last night while going through this ritual if I would still be doing the same thing when they were teenagers... and then I was thinking that if, as a teenager, I had woken up to my mom standing over me in the middle of the night fixing my blankets it would have probably freaked me out a little. So I'm thinking that I'll probably have to stop at some point. (But not yet.)

I check to see if my kids are breathing too. Morbid, but true. I am also delighted to report that, once we move, I will no longer have them sleep on bunk beds which will alleviate my dread and certainty that one of them is going to be crushed to death in their sleep one of these nights when the top bunk collapses.

I just snapped pictures of Wes sleeping tonight too. So sweet! But I don't have to wake up at night on my own, Wes is still giving me the wake up calls :)

ditto on "love you forever." never stop sneaking in to kiss them good night. someday they will be sneaking in to kiss you goodnight. you know, when you're on your death bed.
